Obituary of Jenny Christina Hammond

HAMMOND, Jenny Christina

May 14, 1975 – September 1, 2017

For a brief moment in time, for us, the earth stood still, the wind stopped blowing, the sun stopped shining and the seas went calm as a very special soul passed out of this world.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jenny Christina Hammond, aged 42.  A determined and uniquely beautiful young woman, Jenny had an extraordinary life, a life that drew out the best in people and drew the best of people to her.  Her influence and impact went well beyond the confines of her life and changed the lives of many.

Jenny is survived by her father and mother, Ken and Marg (nee Payne), her brothers Jeremy (Carolyn) and Matthew (Sarah), her nephew (Emerson) and nieces (Charlotte and Grace).  We will all miss her terribly.

To all her friends and acquaintances and to all who have been a part of her life, we thank you.

We would also like to thank Reena, all the caregivers at Luverne Avenue who have given Jenny such loving care for over two decades, the palliative care professionals for CLHIN, all the doctors, nurses and hospitals who have seen to Jenny’s medical needs and her massage therapist.  We are indebted to the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation for its support of families and its ongoing research into the causes of this condition.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in Toronto on Sunday, September 24th from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at McLean House, 2075 Bayview Avenue (behind Sunnybrook Hospital).  A family-only interment will take place at a later date.

If so desired, memorial donations can be made to Reena or the CdLS Foundation.
