Obituary of Terry McDonough

Our dear brother, Terry, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 21, 2017.  He will be remembered, forever, by his brothers and sisters, their husbands, thirteen nieces and nephews, and friends: Patrice McDonough (Casey), Jane (Grant Willson), Tim (Ursula), Maria (Leif Shiras), Erin (Paul Listro), Tom, Connie (Burrell) and John (Diana Salminen).

A big thank-you to the nurses and oncologists at Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, who showed Terry patience and compassion during his battle with cancer.

Through difficult times, our sister, Erin and her husband Dr. Paul Listro lead the way to ensure Terry a home in a cozy apartment, where he loved overlooking his predeceased relatives in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Terry had a great imagination and creative wit and, wherever he is, you can rest assured he is enjoying the symbolism of his passing happening on the day of the solar eclipse, knowing he had our undivided attention as the light passed to dark.

The family will always be thankful to the Parishioners of St. Augustine of Canterbury Anglican Church where Terry found endless joy in music, where he sang in the choir alongside his new-found friends.

The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 24th.  A funeral service will be held in ST. AUGUSTINE OF CANTERBURY ANGLICAN CHURCH, 1847 Bayview Avenue, on Friday, August 25th at 11:00 a.m.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Terry’s memory to the CAMH foundation (www.supportcamh.ca).  Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
