Obituary of Mary Milburn Beaton

Mary died peacefully at home, after an intense short illness, on Saturday, August 5, 2017.  Beloved wife of J. Campbell Beaton, amazing mother to the late Catherine D. Beaton, M. Barbara Beaton, son-in-law Gene Hugo, and devoted grandmother to Johanna G. Hugo of Yellowknife, NT.  Dearly loved sister and sister-in-law to Don (predeceased) and Amy Milburn of Peterborough, ON, Tom and Allison Milburn of Toronto, ON, and Doug and Linda Beaton of London, ON.  Mary will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews and their children in addition to her many dear friends.

Born at home in rural Peterborough, ON, Mary went to the University of Guelph (Macdonald Institute) where she met Cam who became her husband of 63-years.  Mary graduated with a Bachelor of Household Science and worked in the field of food sciences prior to full-time motherhood.  In later years, she returned to work in the field of dietary research which included breast cancer.  Mary was a dedicated mother to Cathy and Barb, who with Cam provided a loving upbringing full of rich experiences for their girls.  The addition of Barb’s husband Gene and granddaughter Johanna to the family gave Mary such joy.

Mary will be remembered for her love, generosity, and smile.

The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15th.  A service will be held in THE DONWAY COVENANT UNITED CHURCH, 230 The Donway West, Toronto, ON, on Wednesday August 16th at 2:00 p.m.  Reception with light refreshments to follow the service at the nearby Pavilion.  Directions available at the service.

Heartfelt thanks to family and friends who continue to support us.  Sincere gratitude to the Odette Cancer Centre, Dr. Maureen Trudeau, and the entire Palliative Care Team with Central LHIN, specifically Dr. Jennifer Arvanitis, Heng Wen, Britt, Ade and Corona for their competent and respectful care for Mary and her family.  If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Odette Cancer Centre or Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care (tlcpc.org) would be greatly appreciated by the family.  Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.

And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6
