Obituary of Lawrence "Beauford" Taylor

Lawrence “Beauford” Taylor, President of Taylor Cleaning, passed away at home on Monday, July 31, 2017. By his side was his daughter Catherine, who lovingly cared for him in his final weeks. Affectionately known as Beauford, he was a big man, with a big heart and a big entrepreneurial spirit. Born in 1944 in Rock Sound, Eleuthera in the Bahamas, he lived his life to the absolute fullest. In 1981 he married Suzanne, his beloved wife, business partner, and best friend. He immigrated to Canada in 1982, and was fiercely proud to become a citizen in 1993. Lawrence leaves behind many beloved relatives and friends in both the Bahamas and Canada. He is survived by his cherished wife Suzanne Clune-Taylor, his children Christina Alston (Dahl), Lawrence Beauford Taylor Jr., and Catherine Clune-Taylor, his siblings Ronald Taylor, Betty Sands and Eleanor Russel, and his treasured grandchildren Donovan Sharp, Miles Alston and Alexa Alston. The family would like to thank the staff of Toronto General Hospital and, in particular, his nephrologist Dr. Robert Richardson whose gentle, honest care and continuous support secured Lawrence seven additional good years to live out his dreams with his wife by his side. They would also like to thank Dr. Elizabeth Amos, and the amazing staff and nurses at the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care. Beyond this, they give many thanks to the folks at CCAC and Arcadia Home Care for helping care for him in his final days. Finally, the family would also like to express their eternal gratitude to every single person on Team Taylor – you know who you are, and we could never have done all of this without you.

The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 1:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8th.  The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, August 9th at 11 a.m.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honour of our hero, Dr. Robert Richardson, to the Renal Management Clinic at Toronto General Hospital (pamphlets will be available at the funeral home) or to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care at Mount Sinai Hospital.  Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
