Obituary of Norma Innell
Mom passed away on Friday, July 21 at her home. She is survived by her sons David (Janet) and Michael (Julie Charles), her granddaughters Adriana Pope (Matthew) and Jessica, her sisters Barb White and Pat Gracie and her brother Ken McMullen. She was predeceased by her husband Harold and her brothers Clinton and Marvin.
Mom met dad, who was always known as Curley, when she was a baby, being pushed up Erskine Ave. in her pram. They were married in Transfiguration Church in 1944 and two boys followed, David in 1946 and Michael in 1950. In 1948, mom and dad bought the house on Ranleigh Ave., where mom was to live for the next 68 years. Summers were spent at the cottage on Harp Lake in Muskoka and mom volunteered for many years at the Red Cross Blood Donor Clinics. When dad passed away in 1974, mom started working for the Red Cross. In her later years, she remained very active with her art classes, Later Life Learning, going to the theatre, opera and ballet, and volunteering for the Sunshine Centre. Two days before her death, mom volunteered for the Sunshine Centre on Toronto Island serving tea and lunch to fellow seniors.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26th. Mom will be buried with Dad. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sunshine Centre for Seniors, 117 Bloor Street East, Toronto, M4W 1A9.
