Obituary of Pearl May Solomon
SOLOMON, Pearl May
Born September 21, 1926 in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Pearl died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Isabel and Arthur Meighen Manor, Toronto, Ontario.
A trained midwife, Pearl practiced surgical nursing for many years continuing her career in 1956 at the Peterborough Civic Hospital followed by lengthy and dedicated service at both Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Toronto Western Hospital. She is survived by two brothers Cecil Solomon, (Greensboro, NC), Harry Solomon, (Philadelphia, PA); sisters-in-law, Julia Solomon, Leathea Solomon, and Cislyn Solomon, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12th. A celebration of Pearl’s life will take place at 11:00 a.m. with reception to follow the service.
A sincere and special thank you to all who helped care for Pearl including the wonderful staff at Isabel and Arthur Meighen Manor. If desired, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Pearl’s memory to the CNIB or Blythwood Road Baptist Church and would be greatly appreciated by the family.
