Obituary of Elisabeth Valeska Damov

ELISABETH VALESKA DAMOV (née Brugmann)

Passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in the early hours of Sunday, June 11, 2017, just three weeks shy of her 91st birthday. Beloved wife of Daniel for 66 years; dear mother of Nathalie and Charles; cherished grandmother of Yukon; dear sister of Gerhard Brugmann; and much loved aunt of Anke, Birte, and Gero in Germany, of Mariana in Bulgaria and Daniel in Montreal.

Elisabeth (or Ebeth to family and friends) was a lovely, cultured, elegant, tri-lingual woman. She travelled the world and loved to learn about different cultures and religions. When not occupying her fine mind by reading and taking numerous university courses, she showed her skill in sewing, sculpting, wood and leather-working, and repairing everything that needed fixing in her home. She loved flowers and was also a dedicated gardener. Her friendly and hospitable nature led to many dinner parties, where she offered excellent meals that she took pleasure in cooking. Her smiling personality brought a ray of sunshine into the lives of all who knew her.

At the end she was well cared for at Sunnybrook Hospital, for which we are thankful. Cremation has taken place. The service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, June 17th, at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) at 1:00 p.m., with visitation at 12 noon and a reception to follow the service. Donations in her memory could be made to Sunnybrook Hospital or to the charity of your choice. Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.

May she rest in peace.
