Obituary of Anja Anitta Jaakkimainen
ANITTA JAAKKIMAINEN
Our Mom is at peace now after a long struggle with dementia. She will be greatly missed by her husband Reino with whom she was married for 67 years and her children Leif (Bonnie), Leena (Graham Duff) and Liisa (John Waldron). Known as “quiet grandma” by her grandchildren, she will also be missed by Ethan (Rita), Owen and Ella and her great-grandchildren Beckett and Abram. Anitta immigrated from Finland to Canada in 1951. She was one of the founding craftsperson’s at the Ottawa Christmas Craft market (now known as the One of a Kind Show) in Ottawa, a member of the Ontario Crafts Guild and well known for her weaving and knitting. We wish to thank the staff and residents at Suomi-Koti Nursing Home in Toronto and the New Orchard Lodge in Ottawa for the respectful and kind comfort they provided to our mother. If desired, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Suomi-Koti Nursing Home in Toronto would be appreciated.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7th. A funeral service and interment will take place in Ottawa at a later date. Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
