Mrs. Orgill was a neighbour who became a treasured friend. She opened her door and heart to a young girl who loved her dogs and ended up loving the woman who owned them more. She has left me with so many life jewels and her example will never be forgotten. She taught me how to knit, shared her cookie recipes with me, my elderly dog is currently wearing a sweater she made for him, taught me how to fold a fitted sheet, my Christmas tree is covered in her hands' crafts, but most of all, she shared herself, her laughter, her pride in her children and grandchildren, her hospitality, her listening ear. I will remember when Reg would come home and immediately give Dorothy a kiss. I remember my mother when not knowing where I had gone would know to phone Mrs. Orgill with the familiar phrase, "Is my daughter over there?" And I would run home after sharing a good laugh with Mrs. O. I am the age now that Mrs. O would have been when I started knocking at her door to walk her dog. It does not escape me how warm she was when she could have been dismissive. Thank you, Mrs. O. You were definitely one of a kind!!

Dear Jim, Susan and family
We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Dorothy….. we will miss Dorothy’s smile and laughter very much. We have a lot of lovely memories: having dinner with her on our deck, seeing her walk Boomer and Snowy down the street for visits, morning muffins and her hand made Christmas cookies. We always enjoyed her lovely upbeat personality and were always inspired by Dorothy’s care of herself – beautiful manicured nails and fashion ear rings etc. – I always said when I grow up I want to be like Dorothy ….she really was like having a second mother. Dorothy’s son and family sure did a wonderful job of looking after her the past years. May your fond memories get you through this difficult time.
Marion (Owen) and Jim (Connors).

Dear Jim, Susan and family,
We were saddened to hear of the passing of your lovely mother. Dorothy brought many happy days to our lives as the neighbours across the street, and for so many years shared tea and stories with our family. She was generous to allow her "Boomer" dogs to be the subject of our dog walking, given our mom and dad did not add pets to the house of eight kids.
May you all be comforted by friends who will surely remind you of Dorothy's happy smile, chuckling laughter and positive spirit. May she rest in peace, reunited with Reg, and many friends once again.
