Obituary of Tena "Grace" MacAllan
Born Tena Grace Allison in Chesterville, Ontario on January 9, 1921. Died in Toronto, Ontario on Saturday, April 8, 2017. Grace is survived by her daughter Janet of Oakville, her son Richard of Toronto, and her sister-in-law Betty Dicker of Haliburton. After her early education in Chesterville, Grace graduated as a Registered Nurse from Kingston General Hospital in 1943. She then worked at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal before joining Trans Canada Airlines in 1944 as one of Canada’s original flight attendants. Grace was married to Doug MacAllan in December, 1944. Early married life was spent living and flying in the Northwest Territories with her pilot husband, then in various locations in Ontario and overseas after Doug joined Imperial Oil Ltd. Together they shared many wonderful years living and/or travelling in England, Europe, Africa and the Orient. After Doug’s retirement, they enjoyed winters golfing and relaxing with friends at the Meadows in Sarasota, Florida. Grace was an avid golfer and bridge player and was, for many years, an active member of the Donalda Club in Toronto. Throughout her life, Grace was a dedicated volunteer with organizations such as The Arthritis Society, North York General Hospital and Marina Creations. A funeral service will be held at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 13th.
