Obituary of Mary Margaret Rose
MARY MARGARET ROSE
We have lost a unique individual. Mary kept us laughing with her wicked but invariably delightful sense of humour. She always had a positive outlook on life, empathy for all, and boundless generosity. Mary died on Tuesday evening, March 21st, 2017 at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in Orillia after many years of challenging health, about which she never complained.
Mary was the much-loved daughter of Ruth and Hugh Rose, and the beloved niece of Isabel and Florence Johnson. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and a Master's Degree in Planning from the University of Toronto. She was a member of the Ontario Association of Architects and a Fellow of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute. She had a long career as an accomplished and respected businesswoman.
After moving to Orillia later in life, among many other affiliations, she developed a warm and trusted relationship with the people of Rama, and guided them in the development of their community. Art was very important to Mary, and both drawing and painting gave her much pleasure and many friends.
Mary was deeply loved, and will be especially missed by her lifelong friends Gail Darragh and Bob Steele, as well as the Goodings, Maxwell and McLeod families, and a host of others in Toronto and Orillia.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue in Toronto) at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31st. A reception will take place following the service. If you wish, donations to the Princess Margaret Hospital would be welcome; Mary was very grateful for their care and expertise.
