To Diane's family: My deepest sympathy in your sudden and shocking loss, which I share in in my own way. I cannot yet believe she is gone. Diane and I knew each other from early high school at Bloor Collegiate, which student body I joined in 1948. A few years ago, Diane came to live at Christie Gardens two weeks after I did, and I was pleased to be able to pick up in more depth our long-lived acquaintance. Your mother loved life and eagerly embraced every chance it offered her to experience both the new and the old. She enjoyed meeting and getting to know people. It was she who planned and effected our annual "Bloor Girls" lunch every Fall. She kept the group of ten together; those of us who still remain will sorely miss her. I for my part will keep in my memory her lovely smile, her cheerful chatter, her love of bubble baths and "Coronation Street,'" and her seemingly endless stamina. Above all, I will remember how much she loved her family and how proud she was of you all. Again, my condolences. Johanna Stuckey

Dear family members,
This is terrible news and you have my deepest condolences for your great loss. I first met Dianne while I was in the OWL program and enjoyed her immediately! She was interested in everything and every one and brought her special brand of humour to our group. She was no stick in the mud. Indeed it was on one of the first tours given to us by a docent in the old dinosaur gallery when Dianne leaned over to me and said" the earth must have really moved when THEY made out". We had some good laughs. I did not see her all THAT often, lately, but whenever I saw Dianne manning a cart or over at the info desk I would go over to chat for a bit and to get an infusion of her pleasant vibe. She will really be missed and I am so sorry for you who were her so close to her.
Sincerely, Eva Cunningham (ROM Docent)

Diane was my friend. We worked for 11 years at the ROM, getting together when we could. We both were caregivers, and we helped each other with advice and adventures, travelling with our spouses, etc. We both experienced downsizing as well, and the ups and downs of that! She was such a lovely woman and friend. I will miss her smile and warm hugs very much! I'm so happy that she leaves such a loving family and friends to remember her always.

Diane was the " Cool " aunt.
My aunt was that oasis of peace and calm in the eye of an Uncle Frank and Aunt Helen Irish world class storm. Diane was married to my crazy, irrepressible Uncle Frank and my very volatile, Irish-tempered wonderful Mother, Helen. This combustible duo of Frank and Helen was often a challenging mix but Diane weathered all those temporary storms with the same wit, intelligence, and grace that she did all things in her life.
She was a wonderful and loving wife, a great Mom who was always had a funny story or two to include with the updating accounts of the many accomplishments of her kids and a sense of family that was second to none.
Diane lived every minute of her life engaged and interested and she
gave us a lot to emulate. I am lucky that she was in my life. She will be sorely missed.

I am very saddened by your loss. Diane was an extraordinary woman. I shared the info desk at the ROM with Diane on many occasions and she always greeted me with a beautiful smile and very uplifting words.
The visitors enjoyed listening to her stories about the museum and she was always very knowledgeable.
My mother, Dora, has been a docent for many years and she knew Diane for a long time.
We will both miss her very much.
Due to previous engagements, we will not be able to pay our respects in person. We will keep Diane and all of you in our thoughts and prayers.

I was shocked to hear of Diane's passing and will remember her warmth and enjoyment of the Owl programme at the ROM. She also came on many ROM bus trips and was a pleasure to be with. Our closing lunches in Yorkville were always organised by Diane.
What a loss.

As a fellow ROM Volunteer, I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Diane for almost ten years. (We always referred to each other as 'the other Diane'). A truly warm, caring, gracious lady with a delightful sense of humour, she will be sadly missed. I can't imagine the ROM without her charming presence. My deepest condolences to her family..

I am so sorry to hear that Diane is no longer with us. She was a mentor and role model for me in my initial years as a Visitor Guide at the ROM. Her dedication to the work at the museum was appreciated by volunteers and visitors alike. Her down to earth manner and sense of humour were were charming and refreshing. I will miss seeing her at the visitor desk.
Sincere condolences to her large family.
