McCAW, Gerald (Jerry)

June 22, 1926 - March 5, 2017

Passed away peacefully at the age of 90.  Beloved husband of Joan (née Phillips) for 57 years and devoted father of Jayne (Jamie) and Jill (Christian). Proud grandfather of Caroline, Katie, Geoffrey, Claire, Charlotte, Madeleine and Christophe. Jerry became an entrepreneur at the age of 20 founding Custom Floors. He then went on to expand his business career to include Sarnia Beverages, David Pearson Equipment Rentals and St. Clair Community Estates, as well as property developments and real estate holdings. Giving back to the Sarnia community, Jerry was proud to support the founding of The Jerry McCaw Family Centre YMCA in 1996.

Jerry could often be found playing gin rummy with a cocktail in hand or mentoring a fellow entrepreneur with business advice.  He was well loved and respected by many, always so complimentary of others. 

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at the Sarnia Golf and Country Club on Thursday, June 22th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to The Jerry McCaw Family Centre YMCA or the Temmy Latner Palliative Care Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital Toronto.  Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.  Funeral arrangements under the direction of the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W.
