Obituary of Eleanor Mae Marie Ellies

Eleanor Mae Marie Ellies (née Deratnay) It is with great sadness that our mother, Eleanor Mae Marie Ellies (née Deratnay), passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre at the age of 91. Eleanor was known for her unwavering acts of kindness and generous spirit. She took great pleasure in entertaining her family and friends and her high energy was the life of any party. Family, however, was the centre of her life. Eleanor was predeceased by her beloved husband William (Bill) Ellies in 1985. She leaves behind her son James (Laurie), her daughter Kimberly Ellies-Stapells (David), her grandchildren Jacqueline and Michael, her brother George, nieces and nephew Nancy, Christopher and Wendy, and sister-in-law Moira Deratnay. Eleanor was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother and, above all else, she was a loyal friend. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27th. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28th where we will celebrate and remember Eleanor. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, 2300 Yonge Street, Suite 1300, Toronto M4P 1E4. Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
