It’s with extreme sadness and sympathy that I’m sending myheartfelt condolences. I was a teacher at Frankland School for many years and had both Scott and Andrew in my kindergarten classes. I can vividly remember their beautiful little faces and their quiet gentle manners. They were both always cooperative and willing to try new things, and always got along well with their classmates. I remember Scott playing with his best friend Danny and other boys, often building with the bin toys. Andrew had a shy sense of humour that would show itself at unexpected times. And boy, could those kids skate! Even at ages 4 and 5, they would zoom around the Withrow Rink during class skating outings, to the excitement of the others just learning to stand. During those four years of JK and SK, Jacquie was a regular volunteer in the class. She was always reliable and happily did whatever was needed, whether preparing materials, reading with kids, or working with a group at the art table. She was gentle, positive and attentive to all the kids, as well as a devoted mother to her boys. Jacque was a visible presence in the school, helping with a variety of projects and serving on School Council throughout her kids’ Frankland years. She was a wonderful team player, offering her skills in a cooperative way and not needing special recognition for her contributions. During those years, Geoff had his accident and he had to work very hard to recover. It was a difficult time for the family but they pulled together and supported each other until Geoff was back to his usual good health and energy. The Tabers were a loving, caring and compassionate family. They leave a legacy of kindness and generosity and will always be remembered by the community. May they rest in peace. With love, Ellen

I can't possibly express how sorry I am for your loss. I didn't know the boys very well but Geoff and Jackie were always so incredibly friendly, generous and kind. We got to know the Taber family when our son played with Andrew just over 2 years ago. We can honestly say that they were one of the nicest and most genuine families we have ever come across. Although our paths ultimately took our boys in different directions, when we ran into Geoff just a few weeks ago, he was just as kind and talkative as he had always been and it felt like hardly a day had passed since we last saw each other. It saddens us to know that they are no longer walking this earth. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Thoughts are with Jacquie and her family during this difficult time. I had the privilege of attending Law School with Jacquie at the University of Ottawa. Jacquie was always the nicest person you could ever meet and had a smile that could light up a room. I will always remember Jacquie for her caring and loving nature. Geoff served as our legal counsel at Interface Biologics, where I serve on the board. He did an outstanding job for the company for many years; we always knew that our legal matters were in good hands. We will miss Geoff's guidance, advice and sense of humor. I have known both Geoff and Jacquie while I was a partner at Oslers and have seen Geoff several times since then. This is terrible tragedy for them, the children, their family and friends and of course all of us who knew them. Both Jacquie and Geoff were smart, interesting and always had meaningful and funny words to say. I remember having lunch with Geoff after his bicycle accident several years ago and wondering how he would get by with that neck brace and the pins in his head. He not only did that but that experience never even let him down.

Shelagh and Karen and families, we grieve deeply and profoundly for your loss. We lost a couple of longtime friends, work colleagues, and former neighbours. However in spite of our sadness, we've laughed everyday since Dec 24 when we recall how animated Geoff could get on topics he cared about (and some he didn't!) and how steady, gentle Jacquie, eyes twinkling in a mixture of humour and exasperation would try to steer the conversation to calmer waters. Together they were funny and endearing and they made us laugh and made the world a better place.

We are privileged to have had The Taber family be part of our hockey club the past 2 seasons. Geoff's tireless work with Scott's team as manager, father and trainer were exemplary. His passion and drive for his family, the team, his dogs, and the cottage were evident whenever we swapped stories. At a recent tournament in Kingston he was in fine form and organized one of the best weekends I think most of the team had ever been on. Scott's team mates have been working on a tribute to him and the whole family for their first game back and hope to honour Geoff, Jacquie, Scott and Andrew in a fitting way that the surviving family will be proud of.

I worked with Geoff through his work with the Toronto start-up community. Through my work in venture capital, I had the opportunity to work alongside Geoff on initiatives such as CDL and Next 36. He also helped many of the companies for which I was on the board and he went out of his way on several occasions to introduce me to people whom he thought I would enjoy meeting.
Geoff was a generous, positive, caring individual. I will always cherish my memories of him and will forever remember the incredibly impact he had on so many people.

I wanted to extend my deepest sympathies to all of those family members who are left to grieve the tragic loss of such an incredible family.
Andrew Taber was a friend of our son, Niels, at Montcrest School. He stayed overnight numerous times, and came with us up North on a number of trips. He is very much remembered for his infectious and very unique laugh.. which always got us all laughing with him. What a beautiful spirit Andrew had!! As well, Geoff and Jacquie were always so welcoming to Niels whenever he would stay with them. I remember Jacquie as a dedicated mother, to her boys and her dogs as well. Geoff always had a warm and welcoming smile and always had a warm presence about him.

I was so deeply saddened to learn of the untimely and tragic death of Geoff and his family. I was privileged to work with Geoff for over ten years starting when he first came to Osler’s from law school. Working on the evening shift, I remember so many nights when Geoff would bring us work because he was working around the clock. He was such a beautiful person and we always loved helping him. He never treated us like he was better, smarter, or more important. He was always gracious and grateful and, on a number of occasions, he brought flowers to thank us for helping him by staying late. I will always fondly remember his impish smile.
I’m so sorry that I lost touch with Geoff after leaving Osler’s and that I never had the opportunity to meet his beautiful wife and sons – how precious and special the photos have been as well as the tributes to all four of them – accomplished professionals, amazing athletes, giving and supportive members of their community and loving human beings. I also mourn the loss of their cherished pups.
I can’t begin to imagine how difficult this terrible loss is for all who were privileged to be close to Geoff, Jacquie, Scott and Andrew. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the Taber and Gardner families, the Osler community, all teammates, neighbours and friends. My heart goes out, especially to Geoff’s and Jacquie’s sisters, Karen and Shelagh, your partners and children. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult this walk is for you but hope you will find some small comfort in memories of happy times together and solace in the loving arms of those closest to you.

I am a former partner of Geoff's at Osler and have known him since he joined the Firm in the 1980's
Like everyone else, I am totally shocked by what has happened. It is actually hard to appreciate the magnitude of the loss of this entire family. As Dale Ponder has said, Geoff was a much beloved member of the Firm and a great asset to it. Our heartfelt sympathies on this tragic loss are extended to the surviving family members, and their many close friends.
If, as I think is the case, the personality and culture of a firm are a reflection of the character of its most respected leaders, Geoff was certainly a significant contributor to it.

I got to know Geoff and Jacquie as their lawyer representing them on their various dealings with cottage properties on Stoney Lake over the past number of years. They were a delightful couple, and I, and my entire staff are saddened beyond measure at the tragic end to this sweet family. My grief was amplified when I concluded after reading Jacquie's obituary, that her father, Larry Gardner, had in fact been a school chum of mine, with whom I had lost contact, but who along with Jacquie's mother (Nancy Moore whom I also recall from 1960's Montreal West) and Jacquie's brother Andrew are all deceased. How terribly tragic.

I never knew the Taber family up until today when a relative of mine rsiding in Canada posted this story.
I am so very sorry, to the families of the Tabers, for your loss. This is a terrible, terrible thing to have to deal with, losing your family and on Christmas Eve to boot! May you find peace in knowing they are together for eternity.

Geoff was a former partner of mine and Jacquie a former colleague at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. I am so sad at the tragic loss of this wonderful family. Geoff epitomized the character of a brilliant, creative and passionate lawyer who pioneered and built a legacy techology and start-up corporate practice at the firm, which he combined with boundless energy and commitment. He was admired by all and always combined the demands of corporate practice with a sense of humour and comraderie. Jacquie was a talented corporate lawyer warm in spirit and kindness. There is no logic to lives lived and lost, but the spirit of these wonderful individuals will live on for years in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know them.

So sorry to hear of this family tragedy. Your hearts must just be broken to the limit. The qualities that your brother possessed are so similar to yours so he must have been one terrific person. Likewise, his wife and children. I just wish you all the love and peace that is possible and that you will experience personal health and healing. My love to you and your family.

I didn't know the family, but I am greatly saddened by their loss. I am happy for the love they had for each other and can only hope they are still together. My wife and I have made a donation to the Lillian Albion animal shelter per the suggestion in the obituary. May they rest in peace.

We continue to be totally shocked by this tragedy.
We will remember, and miss, the Taber family every time our kids play ball hockey at Withrow Park. It's impossible to imagine the Withrow league without them.

Although we did not know your brother and his wife and children, it is obvious from what we have read that they were a wonderful and close-knit family. Doubtless they brought considerable joy to you and to the others in their lives who they touched.

We do not know this beautiful family but we live near the scene of this very sad and tragic loss of life.
