Obituary of Helen Patricia (Pat) MacMillan

MacMILLAN, Helen Patricia (“Pat”) (née Dustan) Peacefully at Kensington Gardens long term care home in Toronto on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Keith MacMillan. Loving mother of Ian (Elizabeth), Don (Lynda Maxwell), Betsy (Hank Knox) and Kevin (Anne). Affectionately remembered by her grandchildren Julia, Carolynn, Andrea, James, Jesse, Gavin, Dijana, Sara and Emily, and great-grandchildren Milo, Zoe, Avery, Ashley, Luke, Gemma, Clive, Emery, Jacob and Heidi. Predeceased by her sister Margaret, and brothers Tom and Bill. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Terry (Jean) and many nieces and nephews. Born August 8, 1923, Pat spent her childhood years in Bowmanville, Ontario and served in the Women's Royal Naval Service (Wrens) during WWII. She graduated from the University of Toronto in 1949 and married Keith that year. An accomplished athlete (hockey, basketball, badminton) and artist, she volunteered with the Children’s Aid Society, the Women’s Musical Club, the Toronto School of Art, and put in countless hours in her unwavering dedication to her family's musical heritage. But her primary love was her role as devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dedicated supporter of so many. The family wishes to thank the staff at Kensington Gardens for their caring assistance over many years. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016 in the TRINITY COLLEGE CHAPEL, 6 Hoskin Avenue, Toronto. A private service was held in the Chapel of St.-James-the-Less in Toronto.
