Obituary of Andru Maurice Tahk
Andru Maurice Tahk
03/11/78 – 10/04/16
Passed away on Tuesday October 4th, 2016 at the age of 38 on his own terms after dealing with the aftermath of injuries sustained 8 years ago (October 4th 2008). He is survived by his father Arno Tahk, his brother Steven Tahk, his sister Nathalie Tahk, his, sister-in-law Jackie Tahk, his brother-in-law Steven Cooper and his many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his beloved mother Helene Marie Tahk (nee Rivard).
Despite his shy nature Andru was a friend to many and had lasting relationships through his hobbies and occupation. The outpouring of love and grief from those who knew him is testament to the type of friend he was, always respectful, considerate and generous. Andru worked his entire life in the print industry and was a valued employee throughout his career. He was a car and racing enthusiast who loved to spend time in the garage or at the track. He pursued his passions with unceasing vigour and he lived his life exactly as he wanted to.
Andru was a wonderful son, brother and uncle who loved his family deeply. He was a caring soul who always took the time to connect with his extended family. He loved hockey and baseball, both as a participant and a fan. He was a fearless and persistent competitor who never quit and always gave everything he had.
After a serious accident Andru defied all odds and overcame profound injuries to live another eight years. He suffered through endless additional procedures and surgeries. He gave all he had to try and find treatment so that he could return to a normal life but in the end he found no cure.
Andru was an intelligent and articulate man throughout his days and he left a very detailed account of his battle and his wishes. In honour of his spirit we would ask that in lieu of flowers please send a donation in his name to dyingwithdignity.ca
There will be a remembrance service for Andru Tuesday October 11th, 1:00PM at Humphrey's Funeral Home 1403 Bayview Avenue, East York, Ontario followed by a gathering at the Estonian House to remember and honour his life.
