Obituary of Doreen Julianne Cheeseman

Doreen passed away peacefully after a short battle with lung cancer on Saturday, September 10th, 2016. She was born into a growing family to parents Adele and Salim Shaker in Toronto. Showing an early interest in art, she graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York City. After working as a fashion illustrator in Toronto, she married and moved initially to Calgary with Basil to start a family. Her passion for creative arts honed her skills in a variety of creative pursuits, but it was as a prolific and passionate landscape painter where she took great pleasure, capturing the contrast between light and dark. She never ceased to pass on the teachings of healthy and disciplined living in raising her four beloved children and her six grandchildren. Doreen will be deeply missed as the beloved sister of Arthur, Edmund (Susan Priddle), Selwa, Pauline (Marcel Souaid) and Diane, and wife of Basil and mother of Vanessa (Angus Parks), Noel (Brenda Parsons), Stephen (Nancy Ellis) and Janine (David Lewis). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Dawson, Michaela, Braedon, Thea, Camille, William and all her nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favourite charity.
