Dear Katharine, Bernard, Cecily and Hope,
I only just heard of Mr Thompson's death today when I ran into Katharine on Inglewood Drive. I'm very sorry for your sad and sudden loss. Your husband and father was such a gentleman. I remember how kind and helpful he was to me when I was a student at Vic years ago. I will miss the sight of him and Katharine always walking together in the neighbourhood. My best wishes and sincere condolences to you all.

Ken was one of the best friends of life, and I shall miss him deeply. I shall miss our many conversations over many years, especially at Victoria College, on many topics, and I shall miss his wisdom, his humour, his warm generosity and his remarkable good nature, unusual among us mortals. A great registrar, a great colleague, a man to remember. Marilyn joins me in this condolence, so does my son Drew and my daughter Alison.

We are deeply grieved at the loss of an old friend. Our relationship goes back into the 60s. Our conversations ranged over such areas as classical languages, the classics, etymology, cars, the cottage at Tedious Lake, kids and grandkids and Ken and Katharine's travels. Tibi sit terra levis.

To Hope and the Thompson Family,
We are so sorry to hear of your recent loss. Your dad sounded like a remarkable man and it was lovely for those of us who didn't have the pleasure of meeting him to learn so much about his incredible life in your beautiful tribute. You are in our thoughts at this difficult time.

Dear Katherine: I am so very sorry to hear of Ken's passing. My George who passed three months ahead of Ken would tell me of pleasant Sunday afternoons in Halifax when they were students. They would go to the sitting area in the lovely hotel and drink tea and listen to the classical music. I guess they were birds of a feather. And as Best Man at your wedding, he always treasured the friendship of you and your husband. I know he was proud to have such an accomplished man as his friend.
These are sad times and my thoughts are with you and your family.
Warm regards, Elaine Inrig

Hello Katherine, Bernard, Cecily and Hope
It has been many, many years since last seeing any of you but let me tell you that Ken (or Mr. Thompson as I knew him in the 70's and into the 80's) left a lasting impression on me. He was very kind and took a serious interest in me and my brothers, Peter and Ed. Family dinners at your home were forever a source of interesting and informative conversation. Yours was the first home I ever saw in renovation mode. I was impressed that he was doing the work himself as it wasn't happening at my house like that. I had a real soft spot for him as he guided me through the difficult university selection process back in the day. And then, later, when I too worked at UOfT, he guided me again through various ins and outs of administration. A generous, thoughtful and kind man all the way. So sorry for your loss. Affectionately, Jenny Johnson and Peter and Hope MacIntosh
