Mary Louise, kind, loyal, travelled the world in her early years, brought back and shared her many memories, always ready for a good laugh, and, of course, I looked forward to our ritual lunches with Sheila, her 'oldest' friend! It's a sad day! I miss her! Carmen Dewald

My condolence is extended to Mary-Louise Fritz. I attended the same high school and had known Mary-Louise and her parents for many years. We always communicated at Christmas time. I will personally miss her and I know she has touched many lives and will not be forgotten.

I first remember Loolie (as I called her) from our time at Alma College... We became friends once we realized that Mary Louise's mother Bernice Eilber and my mother Helen Horton also attended Alma at the same time many years ago... Also Machiko Nasu, mother of Hiroko Tokuda from Japan went to Alma with our mothers... (see photo of Alma Granddaughters)... Those formative years cemented our friendship...
These connections made it very special and the three of us remained friends after all these years... Mary Louise and I also roomed together after I moved to Toronto and attended Ontario College of Art (now OCAD University)... Loolie's sense of humour, and easy going nature made living together a joy...
Of course our lives changed and went in different directions once some of us married and had children... But Mary Louise was exposed to more children than any of us during her long teaching career... and, every summer, took the opportunity to fill her life with many adventures while travelling the world...
Our mutual friend Carmen (Bloch) Dewald and I made it a tradition to lunch with Mary Louise at least twice a year ...
We will miss you dear Loolie... You will never be forgotten.
Sheila (Owen) Brogren

We first met Mary Louise on a trip to Bermuda over 20 years ago. This was the precursor to other memorable trips as we shared a love of travel. We particularly remember driving with her through a huge snow storm to a Christmas stay at Niagara on the Lake and the millennium trip to Chateau Montebello where Mary Louise was thrilled to do dog sledding for the first time. We very much enjoyed several stays at her family cottage on Georgian Bay. There were summer lunches at the RCYC Island Headquarters, Christmas lunches at the B&R and many dinners at various Toronto restaurants. We will miss her.

I was upset to read about Mary Louise's death. I was fortunate to find out she was at Toronto General when I was there visiting a friend and was able to speak to her one last time. Over the years I have enjoyed many wonderful occasions with Mary Louise including a trip to Michigan. We visited Frankenmouth and spent the day shopping in the Christmas store. I will remember Mary Louise this Christmas when I put out the Santa I bought there. I am sure that her many friends and former students will remember her fondly.
