Obituary of Mabel McAughey
MCAUGHEY, Mabel Marguerite
1913-2016
Mabel passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23rd, at home, in the presence of her sister Marjorie. She was in her 104th year. Mabel was born in North Bay, the eldest daughter of Florence and Arthur McAughey, who predeceased her. She lived in Don Mills for over 50 years with her only sibling, Marjorie. Although they were 19 months apart, they did everything together, and were more like twins in many ways. Mabel was an active member of Eastminster United Church and the United Church Women's Organization. She was a dear gentle soul who devoted many hours to her garden. It was her pride and joy and there was never a blade of grass out of place. She was also an accomplished seamstress. Mabel was employed at Hastings Ltd. for 31 years, in charge of the credit department. After her retirement she and Marjorie travelled to many countries and made wonderful memories of those trips. Thank you to Helen Cerneo and all of the caregivers who allowed Mabel to live out her life at home, according to her wishes. She will be missed terribly by Marjorie, but is finally at peace in heaven. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29th. Memorial donations to Eastminster United Church, 310 Danforth Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M4K 1N6 would be greatly appreciated. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
