Obituary of Norma O'Grady
NORMA ELIZABETH ROSE deCOURCY O'GRADY (née Mason)
At Toronto, on Friday, July 1, 2016, in her 87th year. Dearly loved wife of Michael, who predeceased her. Cherished mother of Bryan (Linda), Sean (Shawn) and Kevin (Arthur). Devoted grandmother of Reyna, Alisha, Tahli and Michael. Dear sister-in-law of Shirley Mason; nieces Claire, Alison and nephew Jon, and grand-nephew Ben. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward, Hugh, John and Stuart Mason.
Norma was born in Toronto and attended St. Clement's School (Toronto). She was active in many charitable and community activities. After working at an architectural firm she devoted her life with Michael to raising her three boys at homes in Don Mills and Henry Farm.
Norma's spirit of adventure began on a European tour in 1953 that ended at the Coronation festivities. She continued to travel all over the world with Michael. After he passed away, she beat cancer, and went on even more adventures with her sons. She always loved the theatre, and was eager to try new things; white water rafting in New Zealand and hot-air ballooning over the Serengeti being but a few examples. She loved many summers and winters with her many friends at her second home in Bobcaygeon. In her last year, she made new friends and enjoyed life at The Teddington.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27th for a celebration of her life. If desired, donations in Norma's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, (55 St Clair Avenue West #500, Toronto, M4V 2Y7) would be greatly appreciated.
