Leslie She was my rock helping me navigate rocky industry issues. She was my friend in difficult times. She was an amazing talent. Unwaveringly dedicated to animal agriculture. Providing calm and logical guidance when issues threatened everyone’s sanity so many of us counted on her. She was fierce long before it became a thing. I was so fortunate to be able to work with her and benefit from her guidance. I am so proud to be able to call her my friend.

I shared many yoga classes with Leslie and will especially cherish the memory of her lovely presence and quick wit. Namaste Leslie. The hands in prayer will circle to include all who knew her. The famous Leslie version of the drive-by namaste. You will be very missed.

I'd like to convey my sincerest sympathy to Leslie's family and friends. I covered agriculture for the Ontario Farmer newspaper in Toronto during the late 1980s, and ran into Leslie repeatedly at meetings and get-togethers with fellow farm writers -- what a vital, vibrant and fun person! She will be missed.

So sudden, so sad, so missed. Leslie was a total professional and a wonderful friend to so many people, including me and my wife, Glynis. It was my good fortune to work with Leslie and to know her and Alan on a personal level. I wish Alan and Kailin great strength in finding a way to deal with their terrible loss. Leslie Ballentine was in a class of her own and everybody knew it. Roy Maxwell

To the entire Ballentine Family - Many of us share your loss. Leslie and I worked together on my issues/projects that we both passionate about, over many years. She was always willing and extremely able, always ready to talk, discuss and take action with conviction, skill and a sense of humour. She will be sorely missed by the fur trade, whom she served so well. Thank you and God Bless!

Alan & Kailin, Meeting Leslie many, many years ago (mutual employment at Egg Farmers of Ontario) I remember her distinct passion for her work in agriculture and her desire to always 'make a difference'. She was unique, intelligent, and loved life more than anything. Keep her close to your heart and know that she is watching over you, always. My sincerest condolences, Jackie Pierce

Dear Alan, Kailin and family, I am so very sorry to hear of Leslie's passing. It is hard to imagine the world without her in it - fighting for what she believed in and helping anyone who asked. I worked closely with Leslie for many years when she was the Executive Director of OFAC and in her role as a consultant. Like a good communications strategist, some of her best work was done under the radar. I hope you know how many farm organizations Leslie helped with confidence and grace. I have always respected her grit and determination, her passion and her honesty, and above all her friendship. Please accept my sincere condolences. I can only imagine how profound the loss of Leslie must be in your home and in your hearts. Janet Hueglin Hartwick
