The mere mention of the name, Neli Davies, brings back such sweet memories and especially that HUGE smile. Neli and I worked together at Lescon PS and I counted her as a dear treasure. Tall Neli and her little Grade 1's!! One quick story. Neli's class had watched over and anxiously awaited the hatching of a number of chicks. One, unfortunately, didn't make it and the class planned a fitting memorial for the chick. As they were marching down the hall the youngster carrying the wee package solemnly began humming what he thought was a funeral dirge. It was actually the Wedding March. Neli was a treasured friend and family member. She was an integral part of our Del Col family, a great support to my Nonno when my Nonni Mary Del Col passed away, and we will miss her greatly. I promised her that I would always visit her husbands resting place whenever we were in Cabbagetown, and now we will have two loved ones to visit when we are there. Rest in peace Neli. Our Angel
Neli came into our lives at exactly the right time. My husband Dominic had undergone a seemingly simple surgery that had gone horribly wrong and was left unable to eat or drink and facing life on a feeding tube. At this point we were in around the 5th week of a hospital stay at TGH. Dominic's roommate who proved to be very disagreeable had just left much to his relief when we got the news that someonw new was moving in. Once Don, Neli's husband, had settled in they exchanged medical histories and their connection was instaneous much to my relief. After Dominic told Don that he didn't think he'd ever be able to eat again Don told him that his wife Neli, had undergone radical surgery much the same as Dominic's, had suffered a horrible infection and after many weeks had recovered and even amazed her Doctor at how she could eat just about anything. We expected that she would be a thin, sickly looking lady and then then Neli walked into the room with her 1000 watt smile and told Dominic in no uncertain terms that he was in good hands and would recover and certainly would be able to eat again. Neli lifted our spirits, she was such fun and always pleased to help out by eating any meals that were brought into to Dominic's room in error. Anyone who knew Neli knows that she loved her food. We had many lively conversations during that week before Don got bad news and did not make it out.
Dominc however did recover just as she promised and we stayed in touch with Neli and got together once or twice a year.
Neli was lucky to be surrounded in life by her loving family who she was so very proud of and I know they will miss her dreadfully.
I have a picture in my mind of Neli with her Don once again and I know for sure that Heaven is much richer for her presence there.

Ms. Davies will be missed by sisters, me and my family. She was a very well-liked teacher. She always had a smile on her face. I will have fond memories of her teaching me grade 1 and continued to be connected to my family's life. She was a regular attender to my family's annual teacher appreciation luncheon.
