Obituary of Frances Keenan

KEENAN, Frances (Isobel Anne) (nee Keane) Frances passed away peacefully at her long-term-care residence on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at the age of 86. Whether known as Frances, Fran, I.A., Mom, or Grandma, she passed away just as she lived, with quiet grace and dignity. Long ago, Frances stepped away from her various roles at Imperial Oil, among them as a model posing for corporate brochures, to begin her career as, to use her term, a homemaker. She was the rock supporting her husband, Jim, in his career with the Ontario Government. She was the ever nurturing and supportive mom to four children, who each grew up understanding that no matter what, mom would be there to provide positive reinforcement, sage advice and love to them as well as their friends. When grandchildren began to arrive, Frances bloomed into a kind, patient and loving grandmother, keenly appreciating every moment of their experiences and documenting them all with wonderful photos that will forever be enjoyed. Frances was also a beautiful voice in the St. John's United Church choir. She was loved and cherished by her husband of 50 years, Jim, who predeceased her in 2004. She will always be loved and remembered by her children Bob (Jan), Judy (Rob), Bill (Tracy), and Don (Marg); grandchildren Melissa, Tyler (Anne), Chase, Kinsey, Quinn, Mitchell, Hayley, and Riley; her close-knit extended Keane family, sisters-in-law Barbara (Jack) and Sheila (Bob), and their families. The family wishes to thank the wonderful people at Bradford Valley Care Community, who surrounded Fran with such kindness and dignity. We would especially like to thank Evelyn. We will forever be grateful for her compassion and support. We will celebrate Fran's life at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue), at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5th. Visitation will take place an hour prior, beginning at 10:00 a.m. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Sanfilippo Children's Research Foundation, www.alifeforelisa.org, 41 Gwendolen Avenue, Toronto M2N 1A1, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, www.heartandstroke.com, P.O.
