Obituary of Robert Stirling Wylie Campbell

Robert Stirling Wylie Campbell WW II Vet, Robert Stirling Wylie Campbell died peacefully in his 100th year at Sunnybrook Veterans Residence on Saturday, February 20, 2016. Born in Glasgow, Scotland June 15, 1916. Robert immigrated to Canada with his parents, James and Robina, brother Jim and sister Mary in 1922. Robert was a graduate of North Toronto Collegiate, The University of Toronto, and Osgoode Hall Law School. Robert joined the RCAF following his graduation, serving in England and Europe. Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Dorothy Isabel Alexina (nee Hunt), whom he met during his air force training in Winnipeg. Beloved father of Colin (Connie), daughters; Sandra Stewart (Brian), Heather Cederqvist (Heikki) and Catherine Campbell (Jim Kendall). Will be missed by his grandchildren; Galen Cederqvist (Jamie), Alexandra Stewart (Roger Rudisuli), Rob Stewart, Doug Kendall, Melissa Cederqvist, Barbara Kendall, Maryanne Cederqvist, Margaret Kendall, Graham Kendall; great- grandchildren; Shayne Axworthy, Oliver Stewart-Rudisuli; and great-great-granddaughter, Evelyn Axworthy. Robert was an active lawyer in Toronto for more than 45 years. He was politically active and was a founding member of the National Party of Canada, past member of the Council of Canadians, served as a Chair of the Civil Justice SubSection and the Canadian Bar Association, as well as numerous other organizations. He was active in many social and environmental issues, long after his retirement. Robert loved art and painting, presenting in many art shows, was a long time member and past president of the Willowdale Group of Artists and he continued to play the flute throughout his life. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and caregivers at Sunnybrook Veterans Residence for all their support. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 27th. A service will be held at 11 o'clock in the chapel.
