Obituary of Sylvia Beryl Graham

Sylvia Beryl Graham February 6, 1945 - February 12, 2016 Peacefully, passed away in her sleep on Friday, February 12th. Beryl Graham (née Pitt) is survived by her children Paul Graham (Jennifer Graham); Annie Coulson (Matt Coulson); and was adored Granny to Alex, Will & Sylvia. She is also survived by Bill Graham; father to Paul & Anne and her brother Bill Pitt. Beryl was born in Vancouver, BC. She spent her youth riding horses and was a member of the Point Grey Saddle Club along with her lifelong best friend Susanne Cruikshank. Music played a very important role in Beryl's life and during her youth, she sang in the church choir at St. Phillips Anglican Church. She was also an avid figure skater competing in dance. After attending Lord Byng Secondary, she made the move to Toronto furthering her studies in opera at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Additionally, she taught piano for a time at Branksome Hall. During the early seventies, Beryl enrolled in St. Joseph's School of Nursing, where she graduated top 10 in Canada. During this time, she became a member of the University Skating Club serving on the board of directors during the eighties. Beryl was a devoted, kind, compassionate and loving mother. She adored her children and as both her kids and friends can attest, she was a "Great Mum"! The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Friday February 19th from 12:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada.
