Obituary of Beatrice MacMillan

MacMILLAN, Beatrice (Betty) Mary Betty, 99, passed away early Sunday morning, February 7, 2016 at Greenview Lodge Senior Care Residence in Toronto. Betty was born in Grantham Township, now the City of St. Catharines in Ontario. She was raised in Ottawa and was a long time resident of London, Ontario before moving to Toronto. Betty was a Graduate of Queens University, Kingston. She took great joy being in the United Church of Canada and was raised in the Church of Christian Science. As the wife of a Canadian Army Officer, she lived in many parts of Canada and raised her eldest children in Ottawa while her husband was in Europe during World War II. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Major Donald C.L. MacMillan and raised their two teenaged sons in London after his death. Betty loved to travel, exploring North American as well as the Caribbean, Europe and Africa. She also enjoyed the outdoors, spending many summers combining travel and camping with her family. Betty leaves her four children, Anne and her husband Peter Holloway of Toronto, Jim and his wife Joan MacMillan of Winnipeg, Bob (Chris) MacMillan of Nelson, British Columbia, and Ian and his wife Lisa MacMillan of Superior, Colorado. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Betty was the last member of her generation in our family and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Friday, February 12th from 1:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Interment is planned for February 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Woodland Cemetery, 493 Springbank Drive, London.
