Obituary of Margaret Whitten

(MARGARET) JEAN WHITTEN 1927 - 2016 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Jean Whitten on Friday, January 29, 2016, after a brief and sudden illness. Predeceased by her parents Ernest and Jeanett (Taylor) Webster and her husband John (Jack) Whitten. She leaves behind her much loved daughters; Jill Rowan (Mike Newlands) and Janet (Mike Forsayeth). Extremely proud "Gandy" to Christopher Rowan (Lesley), Jennifer (Greg Peacock), David Forsayeth (Erin) and Jack Forsayeth. Even prouder "GG" to Sophie Peacock and Scott Rowan. She was looking forward to the arrival of her Forsayeth great-grandchild this month. Survived by her sister Janet (the late Denis Evans), her sister-in-law Marianne Whitten (the late Bob Whitten), her nieces and nephews, and many friends here and in Sarasota, Florida. Jean grew up in Niagara-On-The-Lake, graduated from University College at the University of Toronto, was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, the Toronto Golf Club, the Meadows Golf Club in Sarasota, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and the May Court Club of Oakville. She was a very proud member of her Scottish MacPherson family clan. She enjoyed tennis, badminton, golf, sailing on Cluny's Cat, Muskoka, and had even become a pool shark of late. She was a wonderful and loving lady who will always be remembered as being exactly that. Her journey continues, as will ours without her. She will be dearly missed. A funeral service will be held in ST. CLEMENTS CHURCH, Toronto, on Thursday, February 11th at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, 141 St. George Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospital for Sick Children at sickkidsfoundation.com. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
