Although not licensed funeral directors, these members of our staff are vitally important to the operation of our firm.  These individuals make it possible for us to professionally coordinate funerals with the quality of service our community has come to expect from us.

A Licensed Chartered Professional Accountant, Richard has been with Humphrey-Miles-Newbigging since 2002 and holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo. 

Richard regularly volunteers his time and has served in various positions for several charitable organizations. Currently he is serving on the volunteer board of directors for the Better Living Health and Community Services charitable foundation (www.betterlivinghealth.org).  Richard is also a member of the Ontario Funeral Service Association and a past member of the York District Chartered Accountants Association.

Michael joined Humphrey-Miles-Newbigging in 2009 after 35 years in financial services. He is married to Catherine with three grown children and five grandchildren. He enjoys sports, but has a passion for hockey in particular.



Jake Hunter, Director’s Assistant


Jake has been with Humphrey-Miles-Newbigging since 2017, working as a director assistant in the funeral department.  Jake is very creative and enjoys art and wood working. He also enjoys travelling, especially his yearly trips to New York and Chicago.

Daryl Horlick, Director’s Assistant


Daryl is now with us on a full-time basis and enjoys the opportunity to work with families during visitation and services. Married with two grown sons, Daryl has experience working with the Hamilton Region Victim's Services Unit. He is a long-time active member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, and in his spare time you can find him in his garden and enjoying the outdoors.

Kevin Docherty, Organist

Kevin joined Humphrey-Miles-Newbigging in 1998 as our organist.  He is also the organist/choirmaster of St. Leonard’s Anglican Church in North Toronto.  In his spare time, Kevin is a member of the Board of Directors of the Toronto Theatre Organ Society, and a Past President and active member of the Beaver Bible Class.

Carolyn joined Humphrey Funeral Home as a part-time hostess in 2005.  Over the ensuing years, she held several roles of an accounting / finance nature of expanding responsibility prior to working as a registered nurse with UHN.  Recently, Carolyn returned to the accounting world to work full-time with Humphrey.

 Janis joined Humphrey-Miles-Newbigging in 1987. Her major responsibilities include notices, payroll and administrative duties.  She was a member of the Toronto-Leaside Rotary Club for thirteen years and served as President for four terms. 


Billie Jack, Special Services Coordinator

Billie joined Humphrey-Miles-Newbigging in 2016 and started as a part-time Hostess.  She was promoted to Special Services Coordinator in 2019.  Billie is a true crime lover and a scary movie enthusiast.






Doreen Pattison, Hostess

Doreen has been with Humphrey-Miles-Newbigging since 2002.  She enjoys spending weekends at the family cottage in Muskoka with her husband, two girls, family and friends.
