Obituary of Lorna Joy McMaster

Lorna Joy McMaster (nee Dibble) (1936 - 2013) Lorna Joy McMaster was a strong and stunning woman. She was born in Ottawa, Ontario but grew up in Montreal, Quebec. She and her brother Ross Dibble spent many summers vacationing on Center Island canoeing and having fun on Long Pond. The former Miss Allouette (1954) captured the heart of the very handsome David McMaster who whisked her off to Toronto to further his advertising career. In short succession she was a busy mother to active twins Ross and Earle and soon after, her energetic daughter Susan. Her life was filled with supporting her family's many activities including hockey, tennis, gymnastics and singing while hosting unforgettable annual Christmas parties, and committing to her many volunteer assignments including running the infamous flea market at Mayfair. Joy even managed to return to school once the kids were grown to earn a B.A. in English - which she loved. Joy suffered a significant loss when her beloved son Ross died in 2009 after a brief illness, but carried on as best as she could. Joy was devoted to the love of her life - her husband David 'Ace' who died in 2010. Together they were avid bridge and tennis players and enjoyed their many trips to Hilton Head and their many social activities. They were quite inseparable. Joy will be greatly missed by Susan (Peter Konigsmann), Earle (Bernadette Jauer) and daughter-in-law Heather Hewitt. Also missing Gama dearly will be Kyle and Sean Konigsmann, Jack McMaster, Farialle and Malek Pacha, and Hope, Susan and Liam McMaster. Joy was adored by her caring brother Ross Dibble (Judy) and will be missed by her niece Heather Dibble Austin (Adrian and Jason) and nephew Scott Dibble (Danielle Perron) and their son Tinh. Joy, with that unforgettable smile, you sparkled with life. We miss you. Say hello to Ross and Ace for us. If desired and in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Ross McMaster Memorial Fund at the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation (go to www.ccfc.ca and search "Ross McMaster").
