Obituary of John Wilkin

WILKIN, John Graham (Jack) Passed away in his residence at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre - Veteran's Wing, Toronto on Monday, December 9, 2013 at the age of 94. Husband of the late Lorraine. Father of Bruce, Dave and Rick. Father-in-law of Debra, Linda and Barbara. Grandfather of eight. Brother of Helen Cannon and Laura MacDonald. Jack was born in Paris, Ontario to Tom and Mary Wilkin. He graduated from Paris High School and then the University of Toronto as a Mechanical Engineer. He served for five years in the RCOC and the RCEME during World War II, rising to the rank of Captain. He was awarded the Military Cross and was mentioned in a Dispatch for distinguished service. The whole of Jack's business career was with Ontario Hydro, first in construction work and later in personnel work, mostly at the management level. Throughout most of his adult life, Jack was actively involved and took a leading role in social business, boating, swimming and military organizations. A memorial service will be held at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Saturday, December 21 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception.
