Dear Bruce , Dave, Rick and families. Today you will be saying your final goodbyes to your dad (grandfather) but I know you will be upheld with many wonderful memories of him and your mum (grandmother). They were always so proud of all of you and your many achievements. Although we didn't spend a lot of time together both of your parents were always interested where life was taking us. At a difficult time in my life they took me and my kids and my parents out on their boat on Lake Ontario what a therapeutic adventure. We also delighted in watching Uncle Jack stand with my parents on their 60th wedding anniversary celebration as he had done as their best man in 1940.

I had the honour of knowing Jack through the Toronto Chapter of EMEA. As a young EME Officer who grew to become the Commanding Officer of 32 Service Battalion, Jack was one of my mentors who taught me the value of being humble and looking on the brighter side of any situation. He was an inspiration not only of his heroics in battle but in every day life. His guidance helped me survive my war, I will miss him greatly. God Speed, Arte et Marte Jack.

Captain Jack Wilkin served his country and his Regiment, Lord Strathcona's Horse, with exceptional dedication. His courage and perseverance in the face of hostile fire is an example to us all. It is because of soldiers such as Jack that to this day, the Strathconas encourage their mechanics and technicians to wear the black beret of the Armoured Corps. When the Strathconas return from Christmas leave, I will ask the Commanding Officer to read Jack's MC citation on parade. To Jack's family, please be reassured that we will remember him.
