Obituary of Donald Hackett

HACKETT, Donald Jackman Peacefully at Toronto, on Sunday, December 8th, 2013 at the age of 84. Born and raised in Toronto, Don was the beloved husband of Yvonne (nee Phillips) for 63 years and the dear father of Pamela (Tom Kilmer), Deborah (Paul Martin), Barbara (John Tory) and Jana. Proud grandfather of Claire, Glenn and Andrew; Geoffrey, Tara, Donald and Kaitlin; John, Christopher, Susan and George; and Michael; and 11 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Garry and of Les (Edna). Predeceased by brother Bill (Diana) and sister Patricia (Ross Opie). Don had many colleagues and lifetime friends from his career at EMCO. He was an accomplished captain, and liked nothing better than to be in his boat on Georgian Bay, with steaks on the bar-b-que and the music of Benny Goodman in the air. The family is very grateful to the caring staff at Kensington Gardens and the team at Toronto General Hospital.
