Obituary of Robert Elliott
ELLIOTT, Robert Earle
(1957 - 2013)
Rob died peacefully, present with his beloved spouse, Paul Wilson, family and friends at home in Toronto, Ontario on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at age 56. Rob, a partner at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, thoroughly enjoyed his practice of financial sector regulatory and governance law. He served as a mentor and role model to many students and associates whom he was pleased to see move on to their own career successes. He was actively involved as a board member of Social Enterprise Development Innovations (SEDI), a charity whose mission is to expand economic opportunity for Canadians living in poverty through program and policy development. When not working, Rob and Paul enjoyed exploring the astonishing diversity and connections that comprise this world: its geography, cultures and art, foods and wine - with luck, sharing the experience with friends. He leaves a beloved spouse of 24 years, Paul Wilson, and was a loving brother to Gordon Elliott (Michelle) and Kenneth Elliott (Tracy LeFler). Dear brother-in-law to Allan Wilson (Franziska Schmidlin-Wilson) of Diamond Harbour, New Zealand, and sister-in-law Megan Anne Torfe (Tony) of Thunder Bay. Dear uncle to Patrick, Benjamin, Liam, Dorothy and Thomas. A celebration of Rob's life will be held in ST. PAUL'S BLOOR STREET ANGLICAN CHURCH, 227 Bloor Street East on Monday, December 9 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the church hall. After cremation, a private burial will take place in St. James Cemetery, Toronto. Donations would be gratefully received in Rob's name by The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation with the funds specifically directed to the Robert Elliott and Paul Wilson Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.
