There were 14 of us who arrived as new staff at James S. Bell one September - some time ago now - and Betty Ann was one of us. She resumed her teaching career with a splash - she was fabulous with the kids and was a terrific colleague. She could tell the best anecdotes, whether it was about a ski vacation, or some antic of one of the students in her class, and was such a positive person in the staffroom. Dress expectations were starting to relax a bit when Betty Ann went back to teaching, but she led in the elegance department, and I think we all stepped up our game because of her leading by example! I will always remember her in one of her fabulous suits and a great pair of pumps looking after baby chicks in her classroom! I was saddened to hear of the disease she had, but not surprised that she defied the odds the way she did. May you find comfort in God and the memories you have that will sustain you for the rest of your lives.

Dear Margot, Kate and James, Betty Ann and I shared many fun times together - on the slopes at Georgian Peaks, and as a family at your ski chalet. The Chapman Frise joint cottage rental at Georgian Bay and the challenges that brought to our lives, certainly was a bonding experience! We were both members of Toronto Lawn Tennis, and although Betty Ann was a much better at tennis than I was, it brought us together as we always had family news to share with each other. Later when BA wasn't well, there were the afternoon visits at The Lonsdale when we used to sit together and just talk Every time I saw BA she was, of course immaculate, beautifully dressed and smiling. That is how I will remember her. Betty Ann is now in a better place. She was so proud of all of you and I know that the love and support you gave here during this endlessly difficult time meant everything to her. I send you my heartfelt sympathy at the loss of your dear mother, With love, Libby

To the Chapman Family, I send my sympathy to Bob,Jim,Kate Margo, and grandchildrenof Betty Ann. I can only think of Martin Luther KIng's speech "Free at last". That long struggle with a debilitating disease must have been so difficult for Betty Ann and you the family. You will feel relief but also an avalanche of feelings of regret and loss. I will remember all the fun times I had with Betty Ann. Peace be with you. Sincerely Martha and Bill Mcdonald
