STEWART, Robert Bowie
Bob died suddenly at St. Michael's Hospital on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, following complications from lung surgery, with his family at his side. A beloved husband and loving father, he leaves his wife of 54 years, Nan, his sons Peter (Jennifer Wardle) and David (Vanessa Friedman), and his adored grandchildren Allegra, Miranda and Zebediah. Bob was born in Montreal on February 28, 1934, and grew up in the Eastern Townships, attended a local school where he learned his French and then went to Sedbergh School and briefly Bishops College. Bob began his long career in the investment business in Montreal with Dominion Securities and after being with a number of investment houses in Montreal, Winnipeg and Toronto, he finally established his own firm, Twenty-First Century Investments Inc., which he was planning on running forever! He made many wonderful and close friends in the business community. Bob loved Canadian politics, the Montreal Canadians, the challenge of fly fishing and his black labs. He was an early member of The Cambridge Club and The Mad River Golf Club. A lasting pride and joy was Camp Stewart. His generosity of spirit, easy humor and engagement in the world made a lasting impression on all who knew him.
