Obituary of Cedolph Hope
Cedolph Hope was born on October 16, 1926, in Barbados, West Indies. He was a Bajan; a "son of the soil" to the end! Graduating from Harrison College in 1946, Cedolph emigrated to Canada via Curac̀§ao in 1951.
While at one of his first working experiences in Canada, at Elgin Motors, Cedolph studied part-time at the University of Toronto. His love of education led him to become a full-time student, earning B.A. and M.Ed. degrees. By the end of his teaching career, Cedolph rose to the headship of the 'English as a Second Language' Departments at both Harbord and Forest Hill Collegiate Institutes. His love of English was renown, if not slightly annoying, as he often corrected you if a grammar mistake was made; if he didn't he was thinking about it!
Cedolph was recently predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Marcella, and he will be sadly missed by his three children, George (Ingrid), Jay (Heather) and Cathy (Brian), two grandchildren, Kaiden and Siraya, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation is Friday, November 1st from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 6:00 to 8:00 at Humphrey Funeral Home, 1403 Bayview Ave., Toronto. The funeral is Saturday, November 2nd at Church of St Andrew, 2333 Victoria Park Ave (just south of the 401) at 11:00.
