Obituary of Lorne Hogan
"Hogee has Left the Building"
Lorne John Hogan
Born June 24, 1940
Passed away with courage and dignity, his family by his side, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Palliative Care Unit in the wee hours of the morning on Monday, January 9, 2012. Lorne was passionately loved by his devoted wife and best friend Linda whom he adored. Doting and amazing son to his predeceased parents Ruby and Jack. Lorne has two brothers Michael and Ralph. Michael and his wife Saundra have shown Lorne selfless love and support through his long journey. He is remembered by his five children, Lorna, Julie, Lorne Jr., and his two 'chosen' daughters Carrie and Ashlee, his five grandchildren, his two little Shih Tzu companions, Verdell and Jersey-Girl and his huge 'entourage' of extended family and friends. The battle to save Lorne's life began last spring. Lorne, Linda and Ashlee were a united front and fought til the bittersweet end. Lorne lived a 'colourful' life and was generous to a fault, doing things many of us will never do. A man of many hats: boat racer, car salesman, 'reno' man, Santa Claus and the list goes on… His home was his castle and his passion; filled with life large. He welcomed anyone who came to his door. Lorne enjoyed to the fullest his many trips and vacations. Cruises were his love. He even kissed the Blarney Stone. Meticulous about his appearance, he dressed to perfection in his 'Tommy Hilfiger' wardrobe and his weekly visits to Joe's Barber Shop allowed his hair to never be out of place. Lorne lived his life with vitality and zest. What a character! His beautiful blue eyes were donated to the Trillium Gift of Life Program. May someone see the world through Lorne's eyes. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12. Funeral Service Mass will be held in ST. ANSELM'S CHURCH, 1 MacNaughton Road, Toronto on Friday, January 13 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Ashlee's school, The Applewood Centre for Adult Learning, 2180 Harvest Drive, Mississauga L4Y 1T8, 905-566-1777 (charity BN: 850242413RR0001), http://www.canadahelps.org/CharityProfilePage.aspx?CharityID=s98090).
