Obituary of Gary Gardiner
Gary Gardiner
Passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013, surrounded by his family in the home he loved, after a courageous battle. He was a loving husband to his wife and best friend, Bobbie, for thirty six years. His one desire all through life was to be by her side and he took comfort and joy in her company. Devoted father to his children, Rob, Loren and Simon. He also took on others as his children, like Aishling, Rebecca and Randal Yeomans. Simon has brought joy and challenge to our family, but Gary was the pillar of strength that we all strived to be. Gary set the bar high as a successful businessman, good neighbour and generous friend. His sense of humor and quick wit were always present, even to the end. Many thanks to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, especially Dr. Yulia Lin and Dr. Michael Bernstein. Also thanks to Dr. Marvin Waxman for his support to all of our family through the years. As a family we were blessed with a caregiver who became family to us; thank you Hyacinth for standing by us and guiding us through this. A celebration of Gary's life will be held in December 2013, with details to follow. As Gary would want and in lieu of flowers, we would ask that donations be made to CORE, 160 Springhurst Avenue, Suite 300, Toronto M6K 1C2 - a centre for opportunities, respect and empowerment, embracing a number of very special individuals, and the program that cares for Simon and brought Gary great comfort.
