Bobbie and family, Julie and I were so very sorry to hear of Gary's passing. As neighbors, we had the opportunity to have many sidewalk conversations over the years, all filled with good humor and wit. Gary was very generous, supportive and engaging. We will miss Gary and are thinking of you during this very difficult time, Julie and Ralph Colin

Dear Bobbie, Rob, Loren and Simon,
Gary was a true gentleman and I will always remember his smile, laugh and unique way of looking at life. Bobbie you had a unique way of telling us (your nursing friends) Gary's take on life's successes and challenges. The most memorable scenarios included baby powder and gun powder; jerk face; his take on work retreats or kumbaya sessions just to name a few but the outcome from our end was always laughter.
Thinking of you,
Maria

Our love and thoughts are with you all; so happy to have known Gary and his wonderful sense of humour. I will always remember the story Bobbie told the nurses about the "Gardiner Olympics" and a plunger. She had us in hysterics over Gary's rendition of the events from the basement.

Dear Bobbie Rob, Loren and Simon, no words can I find to express how sadden we are with your loss. Gary was so fondly thought of by everyone who he came in contact with. He touched so many lives with his quick wit, sense of humour and love of life, but mostly his love of family and friends. We have so many memories over the years especially all the years our families spent together skiing in Collingwood. It’s hard to believe we have known each other so many years and have so many memories. We will be by your side through this most difficult time and will share in your pain and sorrow. We love you dearly. Best friends forever Kim, Brian, Ashley and Lindsey

Dear Bobbi, Rob, Loren, and Simon I was saddened to hear of Gary's passing. I want to pass along my deepest sympathy's to all of you. I feel truly blessed for having met and known him, I met Gary over six years ago and always enjoyed his company. Gary had an infectious smile and laugh, just the tone of his voice made a person feel good. Gary cared about the people he knew and wanted the best for them. He was a great listener, and excellent story teller. Gary was truly passionate about his family. I will miss him and are periodic coffee meetings at Tim's on Overlea Blvd. God Bless Gary; your husband, father and friend to so many. Ian Bagnell

To the Gardiner family: My deepest condolences on the loss of Gary. I met Gary about 15 years ago and got to know him pretty well in a business setting, where he was one of the best gentlemen that anyone could ever wish to deal with. Gary was honest, had a great sense of humour, and was always extremely hard working. The world has lost a gentleman in the business world, and I wish to extend my deepest condolences to you, his family.

I am saddened to read of the death of Gary. As one of the owners of Whimsical House it was always a pleasure when any of the family came into the store. Gary, often walking with one of the family, would always make a point of popping in, if only to say hello and give us one of his wonderful smiles. He was a lovely man and I can only imagine how he will be truly missed.Lynn

Bobbie, Rob, Loren and Simon Gary and I met over fifty years ago while playing high school football. Trying to be serious was futile when he was on the field. He was a master of comedy; he was our George Carlin. The team was always in stitches and consequently we won few if any games, but we loved our times together. Even then, he had the remarkable traits of always being positive and always seeing the humorous side of a situation. But he was also respectful and considerate of other people's challenges. No doubt, he will remain an indelible memory in the minds of all who knew him. You have been blessed in having shared a lifetime together, and you have come to know him better than any of us. Take strength in knowing that everyone he touched will share in your loss.

My wife and I were so sorry to hear that Gary had passed away. Gary and I were good friends many years ago. I first met him when he was about 16 years old. We worked together at the Dominion Longbranch store. I remember many Fridays after work when we would go to a restaurant and order chips & gravy and played pool. A few years later when we were in our early twenties, I recommended Gary for a job at Rubbermaid where Gary and I worked for several years. In 1969 Gary was best man at my wedding. Unfortunately with family commitments we lost touch for many years. However a few years ago we managed to meet for lunch and catch up on old times. During the last few years we talked on the phone but sadly never managed to find time to get together again. I will always remember him as a good friend. Our sincere condolences. Ian and Leslie Moore

Bobbie, It is with great sorrow that I learned of Gary's passing from Mike Thompson. Gary and I were "partners" for over 20 years in the business world and every moment was a joy and learning experience; not only from the business, but from long conversations we had regarding family, interests and retirement. Mary Ellen and I will always remember the fun times with you Bobbie at the "phantom" and time afterword. We wish you and your family peace and comfort in the weeks ahead and may the Lord look after your family as He is enjoying Gary's spirit now. Bob & Mary Ellen Beebe

Bobbie, Rob, Loren and Simon: I met Gary at Bobbie’s parents (Bob & Marion Burrell) before you were married. I knew immediately that Gary would be friend/family for life…particularly how he handled Bobbie’s parents and family with teasing and more laughter. They loved him instantly. Our friendship flourished over the years and when Wilf came into the family, you all embraced him, particularly Gary. Luckily we have been able to spend a lot of time with the whole family, even becoming Godparents, and will cherish the memories of Gary’s sense of family, sense of humour, friendship and passion for life forever. Thinking of all of you during this painful time with love. Jo-Anne & Wilf

To the Gardiner Family, Rob was such a big part of our lives in Leaside. He always made us laugh and likely he inherited this from his Dad, the much loved Gary. It was always a good day whenever you met Gary. You knew you were about to smile. Even the starling episode when thousands of birds landed in your trees and stayed the summer, was handled with humour by Gary! We are so sad for you all: Dear Bobbi, Rob, Loren and Simon. from your old neighbours. The Reeves

In many ways, I felt like the 4th Gardiner child. Riding in the back of the station wagon to movies, soccer, trips to Collingwood, or a Georgian Bay cottage weekend with Gary at the wheel. The side door was always open for visitors and Gary would always have a hilarious jab as we came and went. He introduced me to waffles with syrup AND peanutbutter which changed my whole perspective on breakfast. The back deck was his haven for relaxing, smooth jazz, shade from the sun, grilling and cold cans of Heineken and I have some many excellent, and hilarious memories of times with Gary and the whole fam on the back deck post dinner. Gars. We'll miss you! Thanks for a million laughs and all the excellent experiences you provided for Rob and I.

Bobbie, Loren, Simon & Rob, Just want you to know that I am thinking about you during this challenging time. As I mentioned to Rob the other day, Gary was a great "kid". I have many great memories of sitting on the back deck with him, over a few cocktails. He was not your your typical Dad He was more of a "kid" to us. He made us laugh with his amazing sense of humor, and treated us like true friends. He will be missed by all of us. I look forward to seeing all of you at his celebration of life. Seems like a very fitting tribute to a man who really knew how to have a good time. Much love, Pat
