MORRISON, Susan Susan passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side in Toronto on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in her 89th year. Loving wife of the late Lawrence Graham Morrison. Beloved mother to Cecil (Shellie) of Castlegar, BC, Bryan (Christa) of Gibsons, BC and Shirley (Michael) of Toronto. Proud grandmother to Keenan, Daina, David, Laural, Moss, Erin, Michael, Mathew and Melanie, and great-grandchildren Avaya, Everest, Ty, Kale, Austin, Mathew, Nathan, Joshua and Angeline. Susan was born September 30, 1924 in Fort Albany, Ontario. Before getting married she functioned as an interpreter for the police and courts, and also worked for the local family doctor in Moose Factory. She and her husband settled in the small northern community of Virginiatown. She worked part-time in many different areas, for example: the post office, planting trees in early spring, and was a seamstress to many clothing stores and people in town. She volunteered in numerous church and community activities. Susan was a Ladies Auxiliary member of the Viriginatown Legion for over 50 years and became a lifetime member. She came to Toronto in September, 1989 and lived at Wigwamen Seniors apartment building, which is right beside the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto. She was actively involved at the centre and her building, volunteering as usual, helping out her community. She taught beading, quilting and Cree language classes. She immensely enjoyed visiting her grandchildren and being part of their lives. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto, especially the Seniors Program for their care and support. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013, followed by a mass and feast on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 10 am in ST.
