Obituary of Nicoletta Scrimger

Nicoletta (Nicki) Scrimger Nicki passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Toronto Grace Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. She was 83. She is survived by Dan, her husband of more than 60 years, and by sons Richard and David, of whom she was fiercely proud. She was a loving Nana to eight grandchildren. Her brother Jim and sister Yvonne predeceased her.A graduate cum laude of the University of Toronto, Nicki had a distinguished career, first as a high-school language teacher (French and Spanish), and then as an editor in educational publishing. She and her husband loved to travel and spent winters in Florida. Nicki had a keen interest in literature, theatre, movies, art and classical music. She served for many years as a volunteer for the CNIB reading program and for UNICEF, and was active in affairs at her apartment complex.Special thanks go the staff at 17 North Mount Sinai Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit at Toronto Grace Hospital. Their professionalism and tenderness is much appreciated by the family.An informal memorial service and reception will be held in the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W.
