I first met Ike in 1969 at the IBM Toronto Lab. What impressed me was the quiet, courteous and competent way he handled my enquiries as to the commitments that he could make to me as a prospective client. There was quite some money involved and my career was at stake. The question of asking for written commitments did not even occur to us, a handshake was all that was needed. Over the next year that was the only area where I did not have any cause to worry. He did not let us down and the project was a success.
I got to know him better over the years and I found that the people he trained and those that looked to him as a role model displayed the same qualities of responsibility, integrity and trust.
In my books there could be no higher accolode.
Rest in peace, Ike, you have earned it..

'IKE' was a great person and a great engineer who influenced the lives of many especially his family and the guys of the 5T3 engineering class. He was a super intelligent person with a wonderful sense of humour. We will all miss him but we are comforted by the fact that we will see him again in his new home in Heaven. God Bless.

Dear Virginia and all of the Goodfellow family, I am very sad to learn of Ike's / your Dad's passing. I have many fond childhood memories of "Uncle Ike": his chuckle, his gentle teasing and kind ways. I know that he was always a dear friend of my Dad, Fred. Dad really appreciated Ike's many thoughtful visits and efforts to keep in touch, especially in recent years since Dad has moved to Guelph to live closer to my family. Ike's passing will leave a hole in many hearts. Our family's thoughts are with you all.

Doris sends her deepest sympathy on the loss of Beaton and remembers fondly the many picnic trips from Nobleton to Wasaga Beach with Barney Wellar, Beaton, Marilyn, Ed, Percy and herself. Many times she thought she had a second son as Beaton was frequently at the dinner table with his endearing personality.

On behalf of Jim and Millie Witherspoon and the Witherspoon Family, please accept our deepest sympathies for your loss. Beatons' success with family and work was always an inspiration to us all. Mother recalls when Beaton drove her to a dance in Bolton shortly after she arrived in Ontario for schooling. Beaton was about 16 then and everybody new and loved him then too. He will be missed by many.

With fondest remembrances.
Life is Like a Candle
We are different in every way
A scent of a candle
Is like our favorite cologne or fragrance
A look of a candle
Is like the way we identify ourselves
The style of a candle
Is like our personality
And the wick
Is the Life we live
When first lit
It is like a new born coming into the world
It starts out as a weak flame
But slowly becomes a strong flame
The melting wax surrounding the flame
Is like becoming familiar with our surroundings
As time goes by
The wax disappears
And the wick goes further and further
Down into the candle
Like our lives when we get older
When the flame flickers
It is like the trails
We all face in life
And when the flame goes out
That's when the life as we know it as
Dies
But the smoke that comes off the wick
Is like our spirit rising to heaven above
Living out our lives in eternity
And remembering the life that we once had

Dear Georgia, Ike was one of the most charismatic, charming, fascinating and interesting men I have ever had the privilege of knowing. He was a consummate gentleman, in every possible old-fashioned, and modern sense of the word. Doug and I feel so fortunate to have known him, even though there were sometimes years between meetings, we were always made us feel that we were special, and Ike welcomed us with open arms, into his, and your adventurous and exciting world. His courage, stamina, passion for life, are for me, legendary; with Ike, absolutely nothing seemed insurmountable. It seems fitting that Doug's and my last meeting with him (and you) was at Rodney's famous Oyster event last year. I relished every morsel, every sip of various perfectly selected wines which I sampled that evening, how unfortunate that Doug couldn't share in that very special (for us) evening. Our love, thoughts, and deepest condolences are with you, Lana, Jim, and your large, and very loving family. Janet
