Obituary of Agnes Gertrude Marr Horsey

HORSEY, Agnes Gertrude Marr Muir Passed away surrounded by her family, on Saturday, May 18, 2013 in her 90th year. She was born in Fergus, Ontario to the late Nan and Alex Muir. She is predeceased by her sisters Helen Menzies and Doris Myers, her twin brother Douglas Muir, her ex-husband Dr. W.J. (Bill) Horsey, and her dear friend Jack Ross. Marr is survived by her daughter Nan Levitt (Don Bird) of Toronto; her son Richard Horsey (Kelly) of Cambridge; and grandchildren Jennifer Levitt, and Dylan and Taylor Horsey, ex-sister-in-law, Jean Horsey and Marr's many nephews, nieces and their families. Marr graduated in nursing from Toronto General Hospital in 1944 and was an active volunteer during her whole life, contributing her time to such worthy causes as St. Michael's Ladies Auxiliary, Wellspring Cancer Support Network and Rosedale United Church, to name a few. She participated in all she could including Belmont House's Annual 5K Run and was an active Bridge Club member. She had also enjoyed golf at the Toronto Ladies Golf Club. Marr loved to be around family, with fondest memories at her Baxter Lake cottage. She loved life and learning, recently conquering computers and email and was known by all for making the best shortbread cookies the world has known. Marr was a gracious and beautiful lady and will be missed immensely by all who knew her. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22. Funeral service will be held in ROSEDALE UNITED CHURCH, 159 Roxborough Drive, on Thursday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m., with reception to follow.
