Dear Mr. McLean, Sara, Meredith, Judy, Hugh, Patricia, John, and family, Mardi and I were deeply saddened to read of Mrs. McLean's passing. I have always remembered and treasured her encouragement and wisdom, humour, generosity, and, devotion to you, her family, her wit, and keen intellect, her class and graciousness, and, how she was always such an energetic inspiration. Yes, her strength of will and strong character has indeed always served as an exemplary lesson and example. She always knew what to do. She was truly one of a kind. She had it all. She lived her life to the fullest and encouraged and inspired us to do the same. She was indeed a great lady. Mardi and I know how deeply you will miss her . She meant a lot to me when I was growing up; she is one of my favourite "unforgettable characters", and she will always occupy a special place of prominence reserved for the best. She was a wonderful mentor. I will never forget her. Mardi and I are thinking of you at this very sad and difficult time. Sandra and Mardi Schildroth

Dear David and family: We were so sorry to see the notice of Diana's passing. Diana and you were so kind to us in Bermuda in 1995-6 when my husband Duncan (McDowall) and I were there doing research on Bermuda history, D for his history of Bermuda tourism. Diana came to one of my lectures at the College and a friendship and a few years of correspondence ensued. I loved her spirit, her intelligence and her witty and affirming take on life. She was indeed proud of completing her B.A. and I remember her joking that it was so ironic that her parents never sent her to university given that Principal Taylor was her grandfather! You will be interested to know that we are now living in Kingston and Duncan is now writing the third volume of the Queen's University history. Diana talked with such pride her family, and was full of stories of Provo and Florida. May memory bring you every comfort, David, and all of you. Sincerely, Sandy and Duncan

To the McLeans, When one begins a friendship, there is no guarantee that it will last from that day forward. Much of our understanding and loyalty, I believe has to do with the way our family raised us and it is from that perspective that I send my condolences. "Mrs. McLean" was always there for us, to get us there or wave goodbye as we headed to the ski hills. She was an active, athletic, vibrant Mom who was a role model even to her children's friends. I am blessed to have a close friendship with Mer and kept up with the activities of the family over the years. Know that there are many of us who learned so much from your Mom and have gone through life thanking her for being a role model in many facets of our development. To each of you I offer my heartfelt condolences that the relationship that you have enjoyed through life has come to an end, but know that there will not be a day that she will not be with you in your heart and hand. We are better people for having been guided by her. Godspeed Mrs. McLean and heartfelt hugs to each of you in her family. Karen
