Stuart (Stu) Ernest Eagles
1929 - 2012
Stuart Eagles, 83, passed away at Sunnybrook Hospital on November 16, 2012 from cancer. Stuart was beloved husband to Anne Eagles, precious father to James, Patricia and Mark, loving grandfather to Brian, Stuart, Steven, Tara, Veronica, Michael, Karamullah and Mazin, dearly loved brother to Shirley (Eagles) Macdonald and Elizabeth (Eagles) Oulton and brother-in-law to Arthur Oulton. He also leaves behind much loved sons and daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, great grandchildren, many relatives and close friends. Stuart was born to Evelyn and Ernest Eagles in St John, New Brunswick but he grew up primarily in Tyne Valley, Prince Edward Island. He graduated from Acadia University, Wolfville, Nova Scotia in 1949. After that he followed the love of his life Anne (Gulliver) to Montreal. They were married in 1952 so they just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this fall. Stuart had a notable 39 year career with Canadian Pacific, including serving as President and CEO of Marathon Realty, President of Canadian Pacific Enterprises and Vice President of Canadian Pacific Limited. After "retirement" he was the real estate consultant for the Ontario Pension Board. In addition, he participated on many boards of directors, was a key fundraiser for the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party, championed many charitable organizations and was a long term member and past president of the National Club. Stuart was a dedicated alumnus of Acadia University where he participated on the Board of Governors and received an Honorary Doctorate of Civil Law. Stuart loved social events and was always the last to leave a party. He will be remembered for his integrity, his kindness and his love for his family and friends. Stuart will be deeply missed. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 4 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 18 and from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. on Monday, November 19. A service will be held in STONE CHURCH, 45 Davenport Road, Toronto, at 11 o'clock on Tuesday, November 20.
