My deepest condolences. I worked with Geddes and Ruth and they were two of the nicest and most caring people I had the pleasure to know.

Geddes and Ruth were close friends of my parents, Art and Peg Buller of Toronto and Mono Hills. My dad Arthur, was a geologist who had a varied career in base metals exploration, first with several small mining companies, with Cyprus Mines Corp (that took us to the Middle East for 4 years), and then with Union Carbide, and finally as a self-employed consultant. He and Geddes had crossed paths many years previously and had become close professional friends. This relationship became ever closer when both families found country places in Mono Township (ours was 4th line and 20th Sideroad). They visited together often and really enjoyed each other and their common interests and the challenges of country living. When my father turned 70 they hosted a party of their many friends from their area and of course Geddes and Ruth were there. Geddes had marked the occasion by writing a bit of doggerel that my dad cherished. Geddes wrote about my father:
To Mono there's coming a sawyer
Who prides himself as a rock lawyer
He's giving up fees
To hack at his trees
And his blisters get rawyer and rawyer.
Dad cherished that verse and had it hand-lettered and framed, hanging in the den. I'm sorry that I'm not sufficiently creative to write something in return regards. I knew Geddes and Ruth from many family events and have fond memories. All whom they touched are better for it.
My parents left Ontario to retire in BC, which was home to both of them. Dad unfortunately was claimed by heart ailments only a few years later, while Mum outlived him for another dozen years. They spoke with great appreciation of their Ontario years, of Mono, and their many close friends, Geddes and Ruth in particular. Please relay my best personal wishes to their family.
