Obituary of Gage Love
GAGE ELLSWORTH LOVE
November 15, 1942 - October 4, 2011
Loved first son of Gage Hayward Love (d. 2003) and Betty Love (d. 2010), and eldest brother of David (Ann), Peter (Melanie) and Geoff (Mimi). Gage died seven years after his cancer was first diagnosed, just shy of his 69th birthday. He leaves abiding love for his boys, Austin (Heidi) and Bryce (Tamara) Carter. His many nephews and nieces, and all of the Smith family will miss his genuine interest and affection. The New York Giants will miss their number one fan, too! Despite the challenges of these last years, Gage lived a full life, including happy times with Sandra, revelling in a new home in Picton, and watching, with love and amazement, his grandchildren, Ava and Abigail, Makayla, Nathaniel and Seth, grow. A dedicated teacher, Gage enriched the lives of a generation of R.S.G.C. students with his passion for history. After school, during daily energetic ball hockey games, he taught the key life lessons that are not learned in a classroom. Gage loved choral music, singing in many church choirs, at R.S.G.C. and with the Mendelssohn Choir at Victoria and Albert Hall in London. His last moments were filled with comfort as a wonderful music therapist played and sang his favourite hymns. Memorial Service will be held at ROYAL ST. GEORGE'S COLLEGE, 120 Howland Avenue, Toronto on Tuesday, October 11 at 4:00 p.m. The family requests any donations in Gage's honour be made to St. Michael's Hospital Palliative Care Unit, where he was cared for with deep compassion.
