Obituary of William Bosworth

Bill passed away unexpectedly at his home in Toronto on Thursday August 18th. He will be hugely missed by his family for the love, support and wisdom he gave to them. He leaves behind him his cherished wife, Joan [Murray], and beloved children, Jenny (Ben) and Steve Bosworth. Bill will be sorely missed by his sisters Mary Neelands (David), Anne Brinkman (Kerry), and sister/brother-in-law (Susan [Murray] and Michael Hammond). Bill will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Andrew and Peter Neelands, Eric Brinkman, Sarah Hammond and Kate Rosenbluth. Bill's many friends, colleagues, and his children's friends will mourn the loss of his wisdom, warmth and humour. Bill was a passionate community builder fighting for social justice and the right to affordable housing. Bill graduated from Trinity College in 1971 and attained his Doctorate of Ministry in 1995. He worked at the Fred Victor Mission, Homes First Society (Founding Executive Director), Metro Toronto Housing Corporation, Toronto Community Housing, and recently the Social Housing Services Corporation. He volunteered at several community agencies and served on the Board of Mothercraft, bringing a rare energy, intelligence and compassion. Bill was an avid outdoors person, spending weeks at the family cottage in Algonquin Park and in Thornbury. He loved skiing, biking, fishing, hiking and travelling whenever possible. He will be remembered by his friends for his joy in living, his humour, hobbies, practical skills, generosity and warm smile. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday August 23rd. A Celebration of Bill's life will be in THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY TRINITY on Wednesday August 24th at 2 o'clock.
